The walk
7.2 km out-and-back walk between Fiumalbo and Sestola, up to Monte Cimone, 245 m of total ascent: about 2 h 15 min of walking. Waymarked hiking trail, between 1611 and 1862 m above sea level. After the walk: lunch at Il Nonno Cianco in Abetone Cutigliano (7.7 km).
Waymarked hiking trail (grade E): paths and dirt roads, good walking shoes are enough.

From Lucca: about 1 h 05 min (45 km as the crow flies). Most trailheads have roadside parking or a small car park in the nearest village.
By train and bus
